The term ‘Industrial Disease’ is used to describe a condition or illness which has developed after an exposure to a dangerous substance in the workplace or unsafe working conditions.
Employers have a responsibility to protect the health and safety of their employees. When this protection is inadequate, the results can be serious, including a wide variety of industrial illnesses.
Most industrial diseases have permanent effects and some of them get worse with time, even if you no longer work where the conditions that caused the illness existed. Sometimes diseases can develop many years after you have been exposed to the offending conditions.
